Frequently asked questions
Start the booking process here.
You don't need an app to access Visana’s telehealth platform. Once you get started, you will have access to Visana’s Patient Portal where you can manage your appointments and care.
Appointments are available Monday–Friday from 6 a.m. to midnight ET (3 a.m. to 9 p.m. PT), and Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET (3 a.m. to 3 p.m. PT). Most patients can see a provider within the same week.
Your first appointment is a 45-minute video visit with a doctor or nurse practitioner. Your provider will review your symptoms and health history, guide you through specific questions and assessments, and work with you to create a personalized Care Plan. If labs or imaging are needed, we’ll provide the orders and schedule a follow-up. Once booked, you’ll receive a secure video link, prep instructions, and forms to complete before your visit.
Your visit cost depends on your insurance coverage and plan. We bill all visits based on the visit type and whether you're a new or established patient. We do our best to estimate your out-of-pocket cost, but nothing is final until your insurance company clears your claim. Copays, coinsurance, and deductibles may apply.
If you have questions about what to expect, our team can answer questions and help verify your benefits before your appointment. Contact us at billing@visanahealth.com.
Visana Health is in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Surest, and UMR, helping eligible members access our care at in-network rates.
During scheduling, we'll collect your insurance information and confirm you are in-network before your appointment. Since prices vary by plan, we recommend checking with your insurance provider for an exact quote.
Once your insurance company approves your claim, we will text and email you the final amount due for your visit. We will then send a paper statement to the address we have on file.
Yes. If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA), you can typically use those funds to pay for eligible out-of-pocket healthcare expenses related to your Visana visit, such as copays, coinsurance, deductibles, or self-pay costs. Check with your HSA or FSA administrator if you have questions about your specific plan or eligible expenses.
Yes! Visana’s Complete Women’s Health Visit is an annual preventive exam with up to 45 minutes to discuss your health history, screenings, symptoms, medications, hormones, mental health, sexual and reproductive health, and more. Most insurance plans cover one preventive visit per year, though coverage and additional costs may vary.
Visana appointments do not involve visual examinations, and you will not be asked to provide photos or videos. Most Visana patients can be treated without in-person follow-up care. Should in-person care or additional tests be needed, Visana care coordinators will schedule follow-up testing, help you find in-network providers, schedule follow-up appointments, and send and receive any medical records needed.
Visana Health complements the care you already receive from your OB/GYN, primary care provider (PCP), or other in-person providers. Our virtual care team can provide additional support for your health needs and work alongside your existing care team.
If you do not currently have a PCP, Visana can fill this gap in your care. During or after your initial visit, talk to your provider about primary care at Visana.
Yes. Your Visana Health provider can prescribe medications and send prescriptions to the pharmacy of your choice. When appropriate, your provider can also order labs, imaging, and other clinical tests through local facilities. Standard copays, deductibles, or other costs may apply for these external services based on your insurance plan.
Visana Health provides virtual gynecology, primary care, and women’s health care across every stage of life. We treat concerns such as painful or irregular periods, heavy bleeding, endometriosis, fibroids, PCOS, hormone changes, menopause and perimenopause, pelvic pain, bladder leaks, pelvic floor issues, thyroid conditions, migraines, sleep problems, mood changes, sexual health concerns, and weight and metabolic health.
You can also schedule visits for birth control, STI testing or exposure, urinary tract infections, vaginal infections, pre-pregnancy care, and annual preventive exams.
You do not need to know what is causing your symptoms before booking. Choose “I’m not sure” and tell us what you are experiencing, such as fatigue, brain fog, hair or skin changes, low libido, vaginal dryness, bladder concerns, weight changes, or mood changes. We will help match you with the right provider and visit type.
